ENERGY STAR® Version 7.0

Effective June 8, 2023, the EPA mandated that all new ENERGY STAR® product certifications submitted to FenStar® be issued to Version 7.0 requirements. If certification to ENERGY STAR version 7.0 is not requested, products will be removed from the ENERGY STAR certification program effective Oct. 23, 2023.

To avoid any potential lapses in certification, ENERGY STAR partners can request product certification to Version 7.0 at any time. To request certification, please visit the FenStar Certification Tool and nominate each product line for version 7.0. Incorrect FenStar product certification documentation and submissions are not guaranteed to be issued by Oct. 23. The FenStar staff will be evaluating ENERGY STAR Version 7.0 certification documentation and submissions on a rolling basis.

Please note that Version 7.0 includes changes to the:

• Thermal performance requirements for each ENERGY STAR zone
• Geographic ENERGY STAR zone coverage (maps)
• ENERGY STAR logo as well as template format changes
• Air leakage compliance changes — the Version 7.0 specification requires proof of air leakage (AL) testing every 10 years

Partners can access the ENERGY STAR Version 7.0 Specification for Windows, Doors, and Skylights and review the new certification label templates and guidelines through the My ENERGY STAR Account (MESA) portal. Please visit the FenStar Licensee Resources page to view instructions for how to nominate product lines and a breakdown of the information that needs to be uploaded.

PLEASE NOTE: Keystone will begin printing all ENERGY STAR labels in accordance with ENERGY STAR Version 7.0 on August 1, 2023. Keystone will no longer print labels to the ENERGY STAR Version 6 requirements after July 31, 2023. Please feel free to contact us if you have any questions regarding ENERGY STAR labeling.
